The Oregon Ducks men's basketball program is on the board with its 2019 recruiting class. On Thursday, Oregon landed a commitment from Northwest Florida State guard Chris Duarte. The 6-foot-6 guard, originally out of the Dominican Republic, was a first-team all-conference selection as freshman, averaging 12.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. "NWF State helped me grow as a player on and off the court," Duarte told the Northwest Florida State athletic website. "I want to thank all of the staff who has helped me become the player I need to be to play at a Division-1 program like Oregon. I'm very excited and thankful for this opportunity." He is considered one of the top junior college players in the country, but does not yet have a star rating on 247Sports. In the class of 2017, Duarte committed to Western Kentucky over offers from Central Florida, New Mexico State, Providence, St. John's, Syracuse, Temple, USC and others. -- Andrew Nemec anemec@oregonian.com @AndrewNemec
